What's in the box?
You will find a single, complete unit and misc nuts and bolts for mounting. Step 1: The center of the unit should be mounted at least 4 feet from the wall to allow for sufficient swing distance back and forth. You may elect to mount the swing in an existing space between the rafters, or if your ceiling allows it, you could create a support struture in the open and then decorate it after installation. Whichever you choose, the structure would need to be able to support the amount of weight you intend to suspend, up to the maximum safe load which we have specified on the product. If you are unsure if the struture you intend to create will be able to support the load you intend to suspend, consult with a reputable building contractor for advice. [The ceiling in the photo below is 9' feet high.]
Step 2: The unit allows for up to 1" inch of adjustment during installation. For instance, if your trusses are not exactly on 16" inch centers and the space is too narrow or too wide, the unit has adjustment in either direction.
Step 3: If this is an existing home installation, then you will need to use either a jigsaw or box cutter (if sheetrock), to cut a hole between the rafters approximately 3.5" feet long for the installation. This open hole can be decorated after installation with some type of craft or other decor. Because the nature of every installation is unique, we cannot provide a standardized cover with the product.
Step 4: We recommend temporarily placing the unit between the rafters to mark the holes. Then, remove the unit and drill a 3/8" inch hole if using bolts, or a small lead hole if you are using lag screws.
Step 5: If you have not done so already, you will need a 110V plugin within 12" inches of installation. This power source has to be wired to a typical on/off switch. This is how you will turn the product on and off. Step 6: Place one end of the unit up first and install one fastener in order for you to swing the other end up into position and install the remaining 6 fasteners and tighten.
Step 7: Plug the unit in and hang your swing. |
